Flag Fundraising 12-hour Sloop Pillage - July 2013 Proposal
Since the last 12-hour sloop pillage was so successful (we made over 300K), I'd like to propose we aim to do another one some weekend in July. Similarly to last time we will break the 12 hours into eight 1.5 hour runs. Porting should occur between drivers to restock and divvy for jobbers. I'd also like drivers to job for one or more of their surrounding periods to help keep the sloop filled. A 90-minute pillage will allow for 5-6 fights.
Drivers will be responsible for stocking the sloop for their period, and for contributing the POE made to the flag.
Obviously I am not asking anyone to be on the sloop the whole 12 hours, but I am hoping we can get folks to participate at some point during the marathon.
I suggest only donating the vessel's booty take but we could make it optional for in-flag jobbers to donate their split too. Out-of-flag jobbers would get divvy normally.
If a BK is spawned at the end of a period the next periods driver, if on the ship, may select to fight it. If not the BK should be ignored to avoid messing up the schedule too much. If a Dig or Haul arises at the end of a period, and it can not be completed easily within the remaining time period I suggest porting but not divvying to restock and change drivers and then finish the dig or haul in the next round.
One item I would like us to consider is that last time as more Otherworlders logged on we moved to bigger and bigger ships. Instead this time do we want to put more sloops on the ocean? I believe this will more efficiently make use of our eights-making time, and we would need to be more flexible with whom is driving.
Please use this forum to give me the dates you are free. Once I have a weekend day with the majority of Otherworlders are available, we will use this forum to sign up for pillage times filling out the table below:

Re: Flag Fundraising 12-hour Sloop Pillage - July 2013 Proposal
I work on Saturday, July 20th. Other than that, at this point my weekends are free. There are a couple family birthdays in July, but those wouldn't take up entire days. A Saturday may work better than a Sunday - a lot of people have church or other obligations on Sunday mornings. Also, a lot of people work on Monday so we may not have as big of a turn out on a Sunday evening.
I should be able to job for most of the day. What I did last time was rather than signing up for a specific time, was I came on the morning and jobbed until mid-afternoon and took a break when we had a full ship. That seemed to work out (as a jobber, nav'rs will need to sign up for blocks so we're sure they're all filled). I'm going to fill out the schedule with a spot for a break for me and may job more than I've signed up for (depends on the day, of course!)
I like the idea of having more ships out, but I'm thinking maybe we should start with a brig and if we fill up, then have people log on (flag and hearties) on shore, maybe we could split to two (or three) mid-size ships. It will be a social event, and while we can use jobber chat, it's always more fun to have more pirates on a boat. I don't know if the pay-out would be much different.
I'd like to suggest that we promote the event, if not actually on the forums then by word of mouth to our allies and hearties. I always get very positive feedback from them after our events, and if they have as much advance notice as we do, we could have a much bigger turnout.
On a completely unrelated note, I had to have my user profile reset on my computer today and my "new" profile has the newer, "upgraded" version of Explorer and I'm not sure that I'm happy with it (we have no option to use another browser). I'm sure I'll get used to it though!

Re: Flag Fundraising 12-hour Sloop Pillage - July 2013 Proposal
Atm, any weekend is good.
I had thought that we should get planning for another 12 hour pillage.
* Had wanted to suggest using a Xebec for all or half of the time.
I'm up for taking a 4-5 hour block of time. Should be good from 1:30- 6. Unless anyone else would want one of the slots, then taking turns is fine.
I'll be just a jobber as i can.
I have a favorite route out in garnet, if we're able to pick the area and route. Will be working on memming and getting the maps i need since i need it anyways

I am pleased with your exuberance in signing up for slots, but I was hoping we could pick a date first! LOL
I am sure we can reserve slots now to some extent too!

Re: Flag Fundraising 12-hour Sloop Pillage - July 2013 Proposal
I'm in Minneapolis on July 13 so that weekend is out for me. We had a great turnout for this last time around and lots of people were on for long periods of time. If we are on for a longer period of time, I'd maybe recommend one larger boat rather than switching boats, but the switching seemed to work okay.
Any thought of prizes? I have a kark i can donate and a sloop. Maybe for the jobber who stays the longest? I also have chromas, etc. if anyone thinks of ways we can use them.
Loving the idea of the Meke sloop sinker and also the rumless pillage. Last Friday night's Raggy Flaggy Night was a lot of fun. I also love the brig CI - very different.

July 27th, aye? I was just heading over here to check the date, ye musta been reading my mind, Spout! I'll be there as much as I can - as of now I have nothing planned for the day. Let's put this in the flag news in-game as well so the people who don't/can't access the forums know about it.

Just a note that it is Raz' birthday, but I'm hoping to be there for quite a bit of the pilly. I'd be happy to take the end two shifts for navving if I can be on at that time. I haven't signed up since I don't know the family plans for that day.
